No one can deny the fact that the kind of rage and craze that Mirzapur created after its release was phenomenal. Mirzapur released on Amazon Prime in 2018 and became an instant hit. The audience couldn’t stop but praised the web series for the performances, narration style and direction. Dialogues got famous and memes started to pour in on social media. Puneet Krishna and Karan Anshuman created a modern day classic. For the last 2 years the craze for Mirzapur only multiplied and everyone was anxiously waiting for Mirzapur Season 2. Season 2 of Mirzapur released last night on Amazon Prime and it felt like a new season of Games of Throne dropped in – everyone was not only excited but also keen to binge-watch it on a weekday. It is not easy to maintain the hype and satisfy the audience with the second season of any web series. Let’s find out whether Mirzapur 2 has the mojo or it falls flat on the face.

The story kicks off exactly from where season one of Mirzapur ended. Guddu Pandit and Golu want revenge from Munna Tripathi and Akhandanand Tripathi. Munna wants the throne of Mirzapur and can go to any extreme to accomplish his objective. Munna creates an alliance with Sharad Shukla who wants to take revenge from Guddu for killing his father and wants the throne of Mirzapur (his father’s dream) by double-crossing Tripathis at a suitable time. Guddu wants to rule Mirzapur and creates an alliance with Lala. Golu tries to fit in the shoes of Bablu Pandit and uses her brain to destroy the business of Tripathis by alliancing with Shatrugan Tyagi by alluring him to do whatever she desires. For Golu, Shatrugan Tyagi is nothing but a tool to accomplish her aim.

With all this happening around the gunshots and bloodbath there are other sub-plots including a blossoming romance between Lala’s daughter Shabnam and Guddu Pandit, the sexual tension between Beena and Bauji, one night stand encounter between Munna and CM’s daughter Madhuri turning in to marriage and political drama entwined with underworld connections and power-play. Various new characters are brought in by the makers and their presence is justified. Whether it is Lalit, the sidekick of Munna, Dr. Sharma the sexologist, Tyagi Triad gang or Robin the investment genius they all have their distinctive characters and significance in the web series. And they all have done exceedingly well in their respective characters

Mirzapur 2 is loaded with humor; there are many scenes that are penned brilliantly. They not only build the excitement but they also bring smiles and make you laugh at points. The swag in the personalities of every character is shown swarming in Mirzapur 2. Every character has their peculiar confidence and projection. Just like previous, this season is also loaded with slangs and they flow like fluid expressing the emotions of the characters flagrantly. Dialogues are effectively penned and there are many scenes in every episode that will keep you engaged and hooked because of the power-packed dialogues.

Mihir Desai and Gurmeet Singh deserve a round of applause for such a tight direction that excites the audience. It is impossible to hold back and not appreciate the kind of efforts the director duo put in. It’s a masterstroke. Scenes are visually captivating and go hand in hand with the mood of the act. Whether they are blood shedding scenes, high-voltage dramatic treatments or intimate scenes they all are creative and mindfully executed keeping the minute details in focus.

Just like every layer of onion holds a denser and severe trait, the characters of Mirzapur 2 pertain to various unexpected characteristics that come out from time to time. Divyendu Sharma is flawless and he has proved that the young lad has great potential to transform himself from a cute boy next door to Munna “the short tempered” Tyagi. Pankaj Tripathi is again flawless in his character, his mannerism and dialogues make him stand tall. Ali Fazal brilliantly portrays a complexed character where he outshines. Kulbhushan Kharbanda is flawless again. Vijay Verma in a double role is good but an actor like him needs denser character, let’s hope in season 3 (if it releases) there is more to look out from his role. Lilliput is seen in a significant character after a long hiatus and he plays his part earnestly.

The female leads are also impressive. Shweta Tripathi delivers a strong performance, and expresses her emotional fatigue remarkably. Rasika Dugal again proves that she is one talented actor and deserves meatier characters. Sheeba Chadha is seen in a few scenes and she makes sure that she outperforms in every one of that. Shernawaz Jijina is gorgeous and expresses her emotions decently. Isha Talwar also sincerely performs her part.

Mirzapur 2 delivers what it promised. The hype, in no way, disappointed its fans. Mirzapur is amongst the fewest web series that surpassed the audiences’ expectations and every bit of it is thoroughly enjoyed by viewers. The climax of Mirzapur 2 gives a hint of the 3^rd season i.e. Mirzapur 3, let’ see if the makers are ready to surprise the fans in the coming years. This weekend, do yourself a favor and watch Mirzapur 2 – it’s a rock-solid entertainer with flamboyant characters ready to entertain you with impeccable writing and execution.
