Pakistani Film Industry has seen many actors reaching their prime and then gradually facing the decline over the years, one actor who maintained his stature and proved his mettle time after time is Javed Sheikh. Javed Sheikh got in to the limelight from the drama serial Shama (1976) and then after Ankahi (1982) he was considered as one of the dependable actors in Pakistan. Simultaneously Javed Sheikh did films and with films like Shadi Magar Adhi, Tere Ghar Ke Samne and others he polished his comic timings and entertained his audience. He also acted in action films from the mid-80s to mid-90s and the audience loved him in his roles. His pairing with Ghulam Mohiuddin and Izhar Qazi was liked by cine-goers.

Javed Sheikh is amongst the visionary filmmakers of Pakistan who not only highlighted the issue of Bedaar Camp (human trafficking / child begging) in his directorial debut “Mushkil” (1995) but also gave Pakistani cinema a classic musical blockbuster and game-changer “Yeh Dil Aapka Huwa” (2002). Mushkil was an art film and critically acclaimed, the film did exceptionally well at the box office, soon after that in 1996 Javed Sheikh released Chief Saab an out and out commercial and masala entertainer. The film was again a blockbuster and entertained viewers. Javed Sheikh also acted in Jeeva, directed by Syed Noor, a movie that revived Urdu films mid-90s and his character was appreciated by the masses.

Javed Sheikh also starred in various Indian films like Shikhar, Om Shanti Om, Jannat, Apne and Namaste London etc. His performances were also appreciated in India. Javed Sheikh always supported Pakistani cinema and young talent, he played a pivotal character in Nabeel Qureshi’s directorial debut Na Maloom Afraad (2014) and the movie was a blockbuster. Javed Sheikh’s character was readily loved by the audiences and he performed it with great conviction. Javed Sheikh was last seen in Superstar and Wrong No. 2 and in both films he proved that whether it is a serious dramatic character or a comic character he has the command to outdo any role.

Javed Sheikh is also doing TV and he can be seen in Prem Gali and Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida. Actors like Javed Sheikh are the assets for any country as they always try to do something unique, different and meaningful whenever given the chance.
