McDonalds Pakistan Faces The Music After Announcing #RapBattle
The Pakistani Music Scene is not what it used to be. And this is quite a disheartening thing for music lovers. Brands have come up with musical challenges and platforms. Highlighting brand and star-power more than the music; compositions and vocals, have taken the backseat. This can be easily spotted if you look at the larger picture or agenda. Once Pakistani music was ahead of its time, Pakistan had the talent that thrived on its uniqueness and creativity; today, it’s the other way round. With all these studios and basement setups how many songs actually offer repeat value? The funny thing is they now require a team of digital influencers to get the ball rolling – giving zero importance to organic reach.
McDonalds Pakistan shared a tweet on 2nd February 2021 that the brand is coming up with #McDonaldsRapBattle. Here is what the tweet said:
Get ready to hit the beat on #McDonaldsRapBattle. Launching on February 5, 2021.#RapBattle pic.twitter.com/MTWjMRCg2w
— McDonald’s Pakistan (@McDonaldsPK) February 2, 2021
McDonald’s Pakistan must have thought that it will be interesting news for the music lovers and people will appreciate it. But the Twitter brigade received that in a different way. For them, the angle of creativity is missing bigtime from McDonald’s Pakistans’ move – if they are launching another music platform. Tweets started to pour in and they were not in favor of the brand at all. The hashtag of #RapBattle trended at 2nd position in Pakistan on the Twitter panel, beating the other serious trends like #HappyBirthdayAseefaBZ, #Fatima and worldwide trends like #WednesdayThought etc. Here are a few tweets that Twittertie shared;
