The collaboration of Neeraj Pandey and Akshay Kumar has never failed in terms of giving high dose of entertainments along with brilliant performance, power-packed script and remarkable message; Special 26 and Baby were appreciated for the same. Neeraj Pandey is back with Akshay Kumar for Toilet Ek Prem Katha. The film has already been in news for some time now as it deals with a serious issue of sanitation and defecation in open areas. Let’s see what the film has to offer.

Toilet Ek Prem Katha revolves around 36 years old Keshav (Akshay Kumar) who is Manglic and is married to a cow; he meets Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) and falls in love with her. After a dramatic and humorous series of incidents they both get married. The first morning after their marriage, a group of women from the neighborhood, knock at Jaya’s window and ask her to join their “Lota Party” i.e. to come along for defecation. That’s when Jaya gets to know that the house has no toilet. This flares her up and from there the film takes another turn. Toilet enters the romance and Jaya leaves for her home leaving Keshav behind until he builds a toilet in the house.

TEPK is a brilliantly written film. The script is at its finest, the humor, sarcasm, expressions and romance are all very well-penned. A good script is backed with superlative performances. Akshay Kumar plays his part with utmost ease and his delivers dialogues with complete understanding of Keshav’s character. Akshay Kumar takes TEPK to a totally new level. Bhumi has already proved in her first film “Dum Laga Kay Haisha” that she is an excellent actress. In TEPK, as Jaya, Bhumi surprises her viewers again. She is natural, fresh and gives an earnest performance.

Divyendu Sharma is one of those actors who have the best comic timing among the younger lot. Divyendu is impressive and makes his presence felt. Sudhir Pandey as Akshay’s father wonderful, he is loud but that’s how his character is created.  Anupankher is effective and besides limited screen-space, he plays his part commendably. Rajesh Sharma is first rate.

Songs of TEPK are good as they takes the story further and are related to the mood and subject of the film. The music takes the tempo of the film further. Dialogues are rib-tickling, clap-worthy and smartly written. The dialogues offer strong repeat value and audience enjoys them. A few dialogues stand out prominently like:

“Sanskiriti ko sirf Sanskrit bana kay chhor dia hai”

“Yeh woh Keshav hai jisnay Mahabharat karwayee thhi”

“Samasaya Swachya ki nahin, soch ki ha”

Toilet Ek Prem Katha is a film on very serious issue but presented with humor, it’s a perfect sugar coated medicine to treat the illnesses in society. TEPK is a must watch, it offers entertainment, message, and a good time-pass.
