Ehteshamuddin is a reputed and critically acclaimed name in Pakistan, after his debut film (Superstar) he has come up with Dum Mastam, his second full-length feature film. Dum Mastam is produced by Adnan Siddiqui and Akhtar Hasnain. This film will mark the debut of Imran Ashraf and Amar Khan. Imran Ashraf is already widely popular for his dramas and the kind of characters he plays; will he be able to pull the audience to cinema halls? Amar Khan is a fresh face in the Pakistani film industry; will she be able to make it big with her first film? Ehteshamuddin has already given a romantic-musical-drama to Pakistani cinema in the form of Superstar, will his magic work this? Trailer Dum Mastam

It’s a relief to watch a fresh pairing of Imran and Amar in the trailer. The chemistry between the two leads looks quite promising. The trailer looks like a mix bag of romance, comedy, high voltage drama and reality versus fantasy. From the trailer, it is ‘almost’ evident what the film has in store for its viewers. An aimless boy is head over heels for an ambitious girl who has her dream to make it big as a dancer/performer. The boy tries to woo the girl at every given point but she simply shrugs his antics off and one day a huge clash between the two breaks out. What happens next is a stark realization hits the boy and the girl goes on to accomplish her dream. What happens in between and around these characters seems to be the plotline of Dum Mastam.

The trailer of Dum Mastam is packed with some powerful performances, obviously who can have doubts about Imran Ashraf – the actor with immense fluidity to transform in to any character and Ehteshamuddin can make even a wood perform with his artistic aesthetics. Amar Khan looks good in intense scenes (whatever are shown in the trailer). Sohail Ahmed needs is once again spot on with his voice and expressions winning the show.

The story seems quite the usual one, that the Pakistani audience is exposed to multiple times, all because of neighboring country churning out a countless number of such films from Rangeela (1995) to Rockstar (2011) with different shades – but at the end of the day, a film is meant to be a joyride for the viewers which they can enjoy with their families.

Let’s look forward to Dum Mastam releasing on Eid ul Fitr 2022. It promises to offer drama, good music, romance, fresh faces (at least for a silver screen audience), twists and turns with a lot of colors.
