Badshah Begum – Trailer
The two minutes and twenty seconds long trailer is, to be honest, a lot to handle. The trailer is loaded with different characters with different shades and character arcs. The story revolves around Piran Pur and the people associated with it. It offers action, romance, deceit, greed for power and position, and also shows the urban and rural contrast; with some power-packed dialogues – what else TV audience want? Badshah Begum’s trailer depicts some picturesque scenes that make it worth a watch. For a second, I time-traveled back to Atiqa Odho and Nauman Ejaz’s 1993’s mega blockbuster drama series Dasht. It’s been quite a long time that Pakistani audience will witness and enjoy something different, at least the packaging and trailer is not ‘Saas-Bahu sort’ – which is a pleasant surprise.
The trailer features Zara Noor Abbas, Yasir Hussain and Farhan Saeed delivering some heavy dialogues with on-point expressions. Besides that the frames are captivating and feature a grandeur setup.
Badshah Begum is painted on a huge canvas and it is evident from the trailer. There are shades of greys and blacks in characters. Everyone seems to have a motive and objective; hidden and obvious. The major chunk of Badshah Begum is shot in the interior and this is why it will have a fresh feel for the audience. There are scenes with planes, land cruisers, rifles, fist-fights, expressions and scenic frames with well-dressed men and women in abundance.
Dialogues in the trailer of Badshah Begum leave an impact – Saji Gul is known for writing some intense dialogues and in this drama it looks like he got the creative liberty to play with his pen. The title track of Badshah Begum is already growing on me and the young Ali Pervez Mehdi should be credited for doing full justice with a not so easy song.
Let’s hope that Badshah Begum – an epic saga of love, power and betrayal be a game-changer for the Pakistani drama industry. The first episode of the drama will air tonight at 8 pm on HUM TV.
