Sriram Raghawan is known for films like Ek Hasina Thi, Jonny Gaddar, Agent Vinod and Badlapur. Sriram’s filmmaking style is different and distinctive. In all his films, characters are complicated, confused and spontaneous. The latest venture of Sriram Raghawan is Andhadhun. Andhadhun features Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte in key characters. With a strong cast, and unique subject, audience has high expectations with the movie. Let’s see to what extent Sriram Raghawan manages to satisfy his audience.

Andhadhun Trailer:

Andhadhun revolves around Akash (Ayushmann Khurrana), a blind pianist, who bumps in to Sofie (Radhika Apte) and they both develop a relationship. One day an old film star Pramod Sinha (Anil Dhawan) listens to Akash’s piano and invites him over to his place to celebrate his wedding anniversary with his much younger wife Simi (Tabu). When Akash visits Sinha’s house he witnesses his murder and what happens next is what Andhadhun is all about.

Performance wise Ayushmann Khurrana is first rate. Ayushmann adds breath to the character of Akash and is realistic. Just like his previous movies, Ayushmann in Anhadhun is spontaneous, natural and believable. This is one of his difficult roles hands down, but he manages to impress his viewers. Tabu plays a complex character with gusto. She is a veteran and she once again proves the she can effortlessly pull off any kind of intricate character. Radhika Apte is effective and natural.

Direction wise, Andhadhun is good but at times it gets a little too stretched and dragged. A tight screenplay could have made it a lot better. Script is okay, no repeat value dialogues. Second half of the movie is slow paced, stagnant and unplanned. Characters start to disappear and appear without making any sense. The story gets a little jumbled up and hasty post interval, leaving audience calculate everything on their own.

Movie Review Andhadhun

The background score of Andhadhun is good but there aren’t any songs which stand out from the film. Andhadhun’s plot is inspired from a short film titled “The Piano Tuner” (French). Sriram added multiple characters, intertwined a few additional tracks and made a feature film out of it. But the fact is, besides good performances, interesting direction and pretty decent background music Andhadhun still cannot impress most of its viewers. Andhadhun will be liked by those who are ardent thriller fans and watch films for good performances, those who look for logical and smart entertainers this film won’t be as impressive.
