Veere Di Wedding – For Desi Wannabe Ladies
We’ve seen Sex and the City, Mistresses and Desperate Housewives but watching something similar in Bollywood is still something fresh. Although films like Parched and Lipstick Under My Burkha were loosely based on modified concept. Veere Di Wedding, from its recently launched trailer, looks like a high-class take on 4 friends’ lives. Veere di Wedding features Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Sikha Talsania. The trailer of Veere Di Wedding is filled with kicks and punch lines, but at the same time they all look so forced. Keeping the target audience in mind, Veere Di Wedding might end up becoming a total fantasy for the masses. Every film can’t be Dil Chahta Hai or Sholay, when it comes to defining friendship. Kareena Kapoor looks fatigued, it seems like she has lost her glam and charm. Sonam Kapoor is as usual in the trailer. Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania are good.
Being living in the age of hashtags like #MeToo and #WomenEmpowerment the film will have more women-audience than male. The so called desi wannabes who admire Sex and the City will try to make Veere Di Wedding a fashion, liberal and taste-statement. The trailer is filled with swears and adult gross jokes; it might prove one saying “The cornier the joke, the harder you laugh”.
The film is all set to release on 1st June, 2018 – Shashanka Ghosh, the director of the film, has not major film under his sleeves, Khoobsurat, Quick Gun Murugun and Wesa Bhi Hota Hai have all been below average to hardly decent in terms of box office. Let’s see what this film has to offer in terms of content, performance and entertainment to viewers.
