Tamil Mega-Movie Star Rajnikanth to Step into Politics
The incredibly famous actor of Indian Film Industry, Rajnikanth has announced his entry into politics.
The announcement by the 67 year old actor has put an end to the wait of almost two decades for many fans, especially ones in the southern state of Tamil Nandu, where he is mostly known as “The Superstar.”
Once a conductor, who is famous by one name and is seen as a god by many of his followers, with over more than 50,000 fan clubs being devoted to him, is now stepping in the political sphere. With huge hits to his name, Rajnikanth became the biggest star in history of Tamil language cinema.
In his address to a hall full of supporters in Chennai, Rajnikanth told that he will form a political party of his own and will be contesting from all the 234 seats, in the another assembly election in, Tamil Nandu, happening in the year 2021.
Tamil Nandu is a hub of strong personalities such as Ms J Jayalalithaa of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and M Karunanidhi of the David Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for over five decades.
But the prosperous southern state, which is a house to over 72 million people, has been facing political instability ever since death of the charismatic Chief Minister Ms Jayalatihaa Jayaram, who was also a previous movie star.
Rajnikanth is also widely popular for almost single-handedly defeating a state government in 1996, by asking all his fans to vote it out, right before the election.
