Dil Dhadakne Do – A Slice Of Life You Gotta Bite
A multi stared movie is always the huge gamble. Either the movie is half baked and shot haphazardly or justice is not done with the characters to make them breath in their skins. Dil Dhadakne Do is studded with huge and assembled cast of great actors, performers and eye candies – what you may call a complete package. But the question is does this package surprise its viewers or shock them. Sister Akhtar – the director, brother Akhtar (actor/dialogue) and daddy Akhtar (lyrics/dialogue) – it’s a definite “Akhtar” intensive release. Let’s see what Dil Dhadakne Do has to offer to its audience.
Dil Dhadakne Do – The Plot
Dil Dhadakne Do is about how people live in high society, what business tycoons are good at and how relationships are dealt in that particular class. Characters of Dil Dhadakne Do includes Kamal Mehra (Anil Kapoor) owns a sinking business empire AYKA, his wife Neelam Mehra (Shefali Shah) a sarcastic and depressed woman, their 2 kids Aysha (Priyanka Chopra) and Kabir (Ranveer Singh). Aysha is married to Manav (Rahul Bose) but they both lack the zing in their marital life, mainly because Aysha was in love with Sunny (Farhan Akhtar) prior to their marriage. Kabir on the other hand falls in love with a dancer Farah Ali (Anushka) although his parents want him to marry with Noori Sood (Ridhima Sud) the daughter of famous Lalit Sood (Parmeet Sethi) who can actually help Mehra’s come out of their critical situation. Yes, it’s a very confusing and interlinked story but very nicely woven and beautifully showcased. What happens to each and everyone’s life is what Dil Dhadakne Do is all about. And yes, there’s a cute dog in the movie as well, oops it’s “Pluto Mehra”.
Performance wise, there aren’t any particular characters or actor that carries the entire movie on their shoulders. In fact, this is the beauty of Dil Dhadakne Do that every character equally performs earnestly and carries the movie onward. Anil Kapoor being the most experienced and stylish, aces up the role. He fits into the character of Mehra effortlessly. His outbursts in Punjabi are miniscule but very relatable. His anger, arrogance, wit and shocking looks are worth applauding. Shefali Shah is back after a hiatus and she is excellent. She is one of those actresses who don’t need dramatic dialogues; with simple lines she can create magic on the screen. Watch out for her Spa scene and outburst against Anil Kapoor post interval.
Priyanka Chopra looks stunning and has performed decently. Her character was a complicated sketch of a woman in her midlife catastrophe and in a catch 22 situation. Ranveer Singh is delightful, entertaining and very natural. He performs very well throughout the movie but he gives his best with Anushka. All his scenes with Anushka are impressive. Anushka and Rahul Bose have limited screen presence but both do complete justice with their roles. Farhan Akhtar (in guest appearance) is a pleasure to watch. If you liked him in Zoya’s last venture, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, you are bound to like him in this one, what a contrasting character!
Aamir Khan also has a part in the movie and he has proved again that he is the Mr. Perfect of the industry – won’t ruin the fun by sharing more about him. Zarina Wahab is okay. Zoya Akhtar has done a fantastic job as the director and has filmed some scenes creatively.
Two songs which are pic of the lot are “Gallaan Goodiyaan” and “Girls Like To Swing”.
Final Words About Dil Dhadakne Do:
