Zebaish Episode 2 Review – Stereotypical At Its Best
The 1st episode of Zebaish was bloated with multi-layered storytelling; numerous characters to overwhelm the audience. But with the 2nd episode of Zebaish revolved around the miss-happening in the life of Naushaba (Zara Noor Abbas) and depicted that Chhotey Sarkar’s obsession to ruin her life. The character of Chhotey Sarkar is too dark; too black to handle. Making him so abhorring is very stereotypical. Similarly the character of Qasim is very shady and he looks more of a clown than a baddie. Chhotey Sarkar wants Naushaba to get married to Qasim but her father helped her elope to Karachi with her mother. Unfortunately, her father is killed by Qasim during the encounter.
Naushaba and her mother stay in the house of her father’s “mureed” who tries to hand them over to Chhotey Sarkar after finding out that Naushaba’s father was killed by Chhotey Sarkar. Naushaba and her mother run away from his house. Where will they go? What will happen to these two women who now don’t have any shelter and are in a different city? The story will take a turn, hopefully, for good from here. Things are shown getting worse between Shabbir Jan and Bushra Ansari (as a couple) and they seem to keep fighting for their existence in each other’s lives. Babar Ali tries to make his friend understand that whatever he is doing to his wife and all that he is expecting from her is “Ghulamana Soch” (Slave-Ideology) and he should better scrutinize his views.
Zebaish Episode 2
Zebaish seems like another drama that highlights the stereotypical storytelling. It looks like the drama will play particularly more on victim cards – just an assumption, based on the way dialogues are penned. There is a contrast in both the stories that are being showcased in Zebaish. Zara Noor Abbas and Asma Abbas are too loud in their respective characters. In the 2nd episode of Zebaish the scene where they get to know about the demise of Peerzada Nafees is anything but naturally executed and performed.
