Sunflower – A Waste of Talented Actors
What happens when you bag a dependable cast with a story that revolves around murder, mystery, thriller, split personality and OCD, but you fail to create an impact with that? That’s exactly what has happened with Sunflower.
Vikas Bahl, received much appreciation for his last venture Super30 but with Sunflower he sort of missed the charm. The story must have been good on the paper but it’s execution and slow like snail direction and unwinding make it a painful experience. There are scenes that are lengthy for no reason, humor is added where it is not required, punches fall flat and the viewers loose the attention.
SunilGrover is a dependable actor, those who have doubts can watch Patakha, Zilla Ghaziabad and Gabbar for his range but it is sad to watch him in below average webseries, first Tandav and now Sunflower. A good actor is underutilised.
And if we talk about underutilizing one actor, 2 veterans have been wasted in the same web-series. Ashish Vidhyarti and Ranvir Shorey are wasted. Both actors don’t have scenes where they could have proved their mettle.
Sunflower is a half-cooked thriller with a lot of unneeded stories that don’t add up to the story. Honestly, this webseries doesn’t need a sequel because the juice is missing. Definitely a waste of time and some talented actors.
There are a few scenes that are good, you will find them in episode 3, 5 and 7 (that too in bits and pieces) besides them Sunflower is a hurriedly made attempt with chewing-gum like execution and unneeded elements scattered all-over.
