Right after watching the trailer of the drama, Raqs-e-Bismil, there was something about the drama that readily impressed the audience. Besides an ensemble cast that features Imran Ashraf, Mehmood Aslam, Sarah Khan, Anoushay Abbasi and Saleem Mairaj, the theme of the drama is also very intriguing. The drama is written by Hashim Nadeem and directed by Wajahat Rauf. With multiple characters that have their distinctive attributes, Raqs e Bismil seems to be engaging.  The drama is set in Karachi. The family oriented romantic drama is telecasted on Fridays on Hum TV.

OST – Raqs e Bismil

The story of Raqs e Bismil revolves around Moosa (Imran Ashraf) who is very religious and belongs to a conservative religious family. For Moosa, romance is not acceptable. Sakina (Anoushay Abbasi), Moosa’s cousin, falls in love with a boy from another cast and Moosa couldn’t accept it. Sakina is then married to Moosa’s younger brother Isa (Momin Saqib) and Sakina couldn’t do anything. Sakina is shown as a progressive woman who cannot accept bindings of any sort. She is wounded from within for not letting her marry her love of life. She curses Moosa for not letting her live the life that she wanted to. She wants revenge from the family for destroying her life.

Moosa’s father (Mehmood Aslam) is proud of him and he wants Moosa to be on the throne after him. Moosa is an obedient son who loves his mother and father, and accepts their decision for him. One day Moosa comes across a woman in a veil and he develops an immediate admiration for her. The admiration slowly turns in to love and then starts the dance of wounded i.e. Raqs e Bismil. What happens next, is all the Raqs e Bismil showcases. The story offers quite a range of emotions that include romance, vengeance and hardships in the backdrop of a religious tone.

The music of the drama is effective and the audience seems to like it. The OST is sung by Vicky Akbar and it is composed by Hassan Ali. The direction is effective and the storytelling is fast paced at places. The drama is getting quite a popularity because of the theme and performances.
