When we talk about thriller movies, in Pakistan we can count them on fingertips. The movie “8969” is a psychopathic thriller, in a nutshell. The film features mostly new faces and a few which are actually forgotten by the audiences. The director, writer and actor Azeem Sajjad of 8969 brings Saba Qamar, Sadaf Hamid Hussain Tiwana and Ali Jabran Khan in pivotal characters. Let’s see what 8969 has to offer to its viewers.

8969 revolves around a serial killer, who is on hunt to kill young girls one after the other. The police department gives the case to two cops Aman (Hussain Tiwana), a happy go lucky person and Shahzaib (Azeem Sajjad), a drunkard and heartbroken fellow as the love of his life Maheen leaves him for her career growth. During the investigation, situation unfolds that the next target of the serial killer will be a club dancer (Saba Qamar) with a mysterious past. What happens next is what 8969 is all about. What’s the motive behind killing young girls after physical torture and debauchery? Will the cops be able to save the next target of the serial killer? Will the killer be ever unmasked? To find out the answers to all these questions, you will have to watch 8969.

Performance wise, the movie has no prominent name to mention. Azeem Sajjad looks fatigued and hard to believe. His character is way too confusing and he needs to work on his acting, if he wants to be casted by other directors. Hussain Tiwana tries too hard to look and sound cool but he falls flat. Tiwana needs to work on his physique, acting and diction. Saba Qamar is wasted. Sadaf Hamid and Anum Malik don’t leave any mark in terms of performances. Ali Jabran Khan tries too hard to look “local” Suniel Shetty but poor lad misses the target. Noor Hassan is below average.

Direction and script wise 8969 is a disaster; the camera work is plain bad. The dialogues are weird and without any significance. The script of 8969 is good, and it must have sounded amazing on the paper but the execution of the script is below average.

Music of 8969 is hardly notice-able. “Tum Sang Naina Laagay” is played for 4 times in the entire movie, with run-time of 110 minutes.
