Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida Episode 1 Review
Just after the launch of the teaser of Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida, the drama was immediately compared to the 90’s Bollywood film Judaai. The drama gained popularity because of the same reason over social media platforms. The first episode of Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida aired last night (17th June, 2020) on Hum TV. The drama is written by Abdul Khaliq Khan and directed by Barkat Sidiki. We will not discuss the similarities between Judaai and Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida based on the first episode, we will talk about what the drama offers to viewers. Let’s dig deeper in to what this drama from Hum TV has in store in terms of story, characters and dialogues etc.
Ulfat (Sonya Hussyn) is married to Shahan (Zahid Ahmed) and they have a kid. Ulfat is one of those women who keep praying to become “filthy rich” by hook or crook. She dreams about money, she talks about it and she prays about it. No matter what, Ulfat wants to get rich at the cost of anything. Shahan is a middle-class man who wants to keep his wife happy and often borrows money from his friends and colleagues to bring a smile on Ulfat’s face. Shafaq (Mansha Pasha) is the daughter of Shahan’s boss (Javed Sheikh) and is a woman of rules and her character is more of a woman who does not think about the consequences a human goes through once the rules are broken she cannot stand the sight of anyone. For her, it looks like, human errors are not acceptable.
The first episode gives a fair idea about all the main characters very well. That’s a good foundation as to what to expect from them as characters in the upcoming episodes. The writing by Abdul Khaliq Khan is superfluous and does not go with the common day to day language spoken by the middle-class and higher-upper-class. The writing sounds like it is acquired from digests. The realistic language seems to be missing. For instance, the entire scene where Shahan asks Shafaq to accept his resignation sounds very lame, keeping professional language in to consideration. The terms like “HR waali Madan”, I mean who use such kind of statements? (Not a shift in-charge for sure)
Sonya Hussyn looks the character, thanks to the smart wardrobe selection. Sonya Hussyn performance is a tab bit loud but I suppose that’s the requirement of the character. Although it reminds of a few characters which a few actors performed in the past but we will not dissect that so soon. It looks like a loud character and Sonya is performing it very well.
Zahid Ahmed looks charming in a few scenes and his efforts are earnest. As Shahan, Zahid suits the character but a little too non-serious at places. If the script could be a little tighter his performance would have been a little better. Mansha Pasha is more of looks and lesser words, based on the first episode of Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida, let’s see what she has for her viewers in upcoming episodes.
