Heer Maan Ja was in discussions for various reasons and the trailer of Heer Maan Ja released today. Heer Maan Ja is directed by Azfar Jafri who earlier gave box office hit Sherdil. This will be Azfar Jafri’s 5th film. The trailer of Heer Maan Ja features Hareem Farooq as Heer and Ali Rehman as Kabeer, along with these two leads there are Aamina Sheikh, Ali Kazmi, Faizan Sheikh and Mojiz Hasan. The trailer of Heer Maan Ja offers nothing fresh, it lacks the spark because of repeated story line (at least from what we’ve seen in the trailer). The usual boy and girl on the run from the wedding, a baddie following them and a few unneeded (read forced) comic reliefs just to capture the attention of the masses to make the film look hip and fresh. There is something missing in the trailer of Heer Maan Ja and that is probably the chemistry between the leads – they look loud and the jokes they crack (in the trailer) aren’t very sharp and most of them fall flat.

Hareem Farooq and Ali Rehman were last seen in Parchi directed by Azfar Jafri, the film managed to do good business at the box office. The background score doesn’t stay with you and it fails to take the trailer to next level. One song greatly reminds of Parchi’s “Billo Haaye” in terms of the way it is filmed and the set design along with the costumes. Let’s see what Heer Maan Ja has in store for its audience. It will release on Eid Ul Azha (August).
