Music is the food for soul, in Pakistan back in 90’s some great singers and musicians came in to limelight and earned respect, regard and a huge fan-base. Recently, Farah Essa released her debut song which is an amazing soulful and heart-touching number. The song by Farah Essa is titled “Maula”. Maula is composed by Sameer Ahmed and Farrukh Sheikh. The video is beautifully shot and is loaded with aesthetics. Farah’s voice is soothing and comforting. The way she sings and pronounces the “Urdu” words is quite commendable. It doesn’t feel like that Maula is her debut song; she is totally in sync with the music.

Lyrics of Maula are by one of the most famous Punjabi Sufi poet from 19^th century, Khawaja Ghulam Farid – he was a scholar as well as an esteemed poet. It is a refreshing and positive sign that Farah Essa selected Maula, a poem by Khawaja Ghulam Farid, to sing as her debut song. In Pakistan, Sufi music is hardly found but Farah with her soothing voice and with the help of the musicians made this track quite an engaging and beautiful song.

The director of photography, Adnan Hassan, also deserves a pat at the back as he captured the shots and frames very artistically. Songs like Maula are not easy to direct as they require a lot of creative and imaginative thinking; Hassan, through this video, makes this song look very arty and apt for type of lyrics it has.

Pakistani music industry needs talented and versatile singers, who are confident and experimental enough to embark on a journey where they can produce original tracks rather than come up with renditions, and Farah Essa has all that it takes to become one of the prominent singers of Pakistan.
