Pakistan and India share a love-hate relationship, best ‘poetically’ described by Vishal Bhardwaj in his film Pataakha (2018); which is a story of two sisters (two countries) – Dhai Chaal is an upcoming Pakistani film based on the notorious real-life character Kulbhushan Yadav. Dhai Chaal is written by Farheen Chaudhry and directed by Taimoor Sherazi. The trailer features a loaded cast that includes Humayoun Ashraf Shamoon Abbasi, Ayesha omar, Adnan Shah Tipu, and Saleem Meraj. Let’s see what the trailer has to offer to its viewers.

Dhai Chaal Trailer:

From the trailer of Dhai Chaal a few things are evident. Firstly, the film will have some whistle and clap-worth dialogues in abundance that we usually refer to as “Dialogue baazi”. From JP Dutta’s Border (1997) to Hassan Rana’s Yalghaar (2017), audiences from both sides of the border love to watch heated dialogues and high-voltage drama on silver-screen. Plus, the visuals of the trailer a decent; let’s see how the entire film turns out to be a cinematic experience. Shamoon Abbasi is once again seen in a character that reminds me of his earlier film Waar (2013). Adnan Shah Tipu is not shown talking but his character looks intriguing. Sleem Meraj’s dialect is on-point.

The background music is impressive as it takes viewers on a higher note. It is expected that the performances will be decent as a few good scenes are showcased in the trailer. Ditto for the writing; soon the following dialogue will be the talk of the town…

Overall, Dhai Chaal talks about the agenda-driven strategies and narratives that India imposed (and is still imposing through media) related to Pakistan. The trailer is worth the watch. Every country should participate in sharing its side of the story and narrative through movies and arts; after all, we are living in an era where viewing and embracing different cultures and stories are all just a tap away.

The film is releasing on 17th June 2022.
