Ali Azmat’s Sayonee Butchered Once Again

Taste in music is relative. Some songs are liked by all, some by a few and some are unanimously declared as classics to a level that no one wants experimental rendition of those to be created. Pakistani Pop music scene was super strong back in the ‘90s and by the Mid-2000s, Junoon is considered as one of the most rock-solid rock bands of Pakistan that integrated Sufiism in to the music. The music created by Junoon was ahead of the time. It is not easy-peasy to recreate Junoon’s compositions, whether it is Saayeen or Pappu Yaar. Every song of Junoon has its high-spirited fan-base.

Sayonee – Arijit Singh

Recently, T-Series has launched the music video of Sayonee sung by Arijit Singh and music composed by Joy-Anjan. It is not rocket science to understand that the song is nowhere close to the original track; not even a fraction. In fact, the rendition is receiving quite a negative buzz over social media. Previously, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Noor along with the key member of Junoon Salman Ahmed tried to recreate Sayonee for Coke Studio season 10 but the majority of the audience didn’t find it anywhere close to Ali Azmat’s version. Similarly, this latest attempt by Bollywood’s very own Arijit Singh with Jyoti Nooran (from Nooran Sisters) terribly failed to create positive hype amongst the music lovers.

Sayonee – Junoon

On social media, fans of Arijit Singh can be seen supporting their favorite singer but the truth is, people with a neutral stance are not supporting the song and are really confused about the song. The diehard fans of Junoon (aka Junoonis) are unable to process the song in totality; from the way it is filmed to the music composition and vocals, they are disappointed bigtime.
