What happens when audience starts to expect a lot from a filmmaker who they think is the King of film-making? Most of the times this ends up in to disastrous outcomes.

Choked By Anurag Kashyap is another film that is too dry and tries too hard to become audience’s friend.
The narration gets redundant, the character development are so shallow that the writer even forgot to bring those characters out from the black hole.

Making things too complicated without the need is forceful – dark does not work always.
Choked is a slow paced tale i.e. written from a confused mind where actors did their best to add some life in to it but with limited room to breath they couldn’t make it alive.

The character of Sarita (Saiyami Kher) was forcefully made complicated, there’s no harm in making a character complicated as long as it lives up to the shades it is supposed to offer. Similarly, the characters of Sushant (Roshan Mathew) and Reddy (Upendra Limaye) were half baked. Their uncomfortable and notoriousness (respectively) could not be expressed the way it should have impacted the audience.

The only interestingly played character in Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai is of Sharvari Taai (Amruta Subhash). She is shown with multiple layers and in a blink of an eye she makes her audience wonder what she actually is as a person.
If you will watch Choked with zero expectation, you might like it.

Too dry, too slow, creative edge is missing big time, in short it’s not even a good time pass.

When was the last time Anurag Kashap wowed his audience with his command and grip over the subject? Yes, that’s very long ago. We would love to watch him make films like Ugly, Gangs of Wasseypur and Gulaal.
