The horror-comedy genre is not explored in Pakistani cinema, but there is always a first time. Abu Aleeha is all set to release Udham Patakh, a horror-comedy on Eid Al Adha 2021. The trailer of Udham Patakh is released today. The film will feature Faizan Sheikh, Syed Ali Rizvi, Hira Umer and Kunwar Mudassir Shehzad etc. in pivotal characters. The tag line of the film is quite interesting with a pun in it i.e. “Zombies Se Darna Nahi, Larna Hai”. Abu Aleeha has an inclination for bringing up unique concepts; his earlier films like Kataksha and Tevar were based on different topics that are not mostly seen in Pakistan. The trailer of Udham Patakh also gives a sense of distinctiveness, as it’s the first film to highlight and showcase the story of Zombies.

The trailer of Udham Patakh is receiving mixed reviews but one has to appreciate the efforts to try something different and challenging, and not just release a film with a repetitive storyline. The trailer shows some interesting puns and it looks like the film will have loads of wit scattered throughout. In addition to that the make of Zombies and the entire get up look quite impressive, keeping in mind the challenges that Pakistani film industry is facing. A few Zombies are frightening, scary and creepy. Not much can be shared about the movie based on the trailer but the efforts are visible.

Mixture political satire and social media craze, specifically Tik Tok, looks fresh and engaging. It looks like youngsters will like the concept and the execution because of a different treatment that is evident from the first cut of the trailer. Udham Patakh will be the first film to release in Pakistan, post Covid 19 and after Durj, on Eid Al Azha 2021. Let’s see if it can bring back the audience to the cinema halls or not.
