In the last few years, movies based on the small town stories have done well in terms of gathering applause and appreciation from viewers. Bollywood has cracked the formula to produce films that have substance, uniqueness and flavor of originality. Chaman Bahaar (A Netflix Original) is a joyride from the beginning. The movie establishes the characters and highlights their traits, preferences, and personalities with a brilliant stroke of writing. Characters are interestingly conceived and smartly penned. This is a rare combination. And the cherry on top is every actor performs their character with earnest effort.

Chaman Bahaar is the story of a small town Pan Wala who falls in love with a school going young girl, who comes to live in the secluded house adjacent to his cabin. How things turn around, and how multiple aspects of society are discussed in the film are a few things that make Chaman Bahaar worth a watch. The film also talks about sweet love, innocence, and revenge wrapped in a sublime tragedy. If at one place Chaman Bahaat is an entertaining, comedic, and romantic journey at other places it is also a thorough depiction of the society and how people take advantage of other people’s innocence, power and fame.

Every actor showcases a great depiction of the character that they represent. Jitendra Kumar is at his finest and carries out a complicated character very well. He underplays his part with finesse. Somu (Bhuvan Arora) and Chhotu (Dherendra Kumar) are the souls of the film. They both impeccably transform in to the characters and are scene-stealers.

Bhuvan Arora is a “lambi race ka ghora”, every character he plays he plays it with conviction (Rogan Josh and Bank Chor). He should be given more films. Ritika Badiani looks cute and sweet; the basic of the character is justified through her looks. The rest of the actors also performed their character very well.

The music of Chaman Bahar is decent and helps in progressing the film. Sonu Nigam’s “Do Ka Chaar” is extremely melodious and written with a high dose of wit. The song is a must listen for old-school music lovers. Hats off to the writer/director Apurva Dhar Badgaiyann for bringing out such a sweet, simple, realistic and powerful film for his audience. For the fans of content driven cinema, Chaman Bahaar is a masterstroke. A perfect film for a lazy day.
