Simmba – A Chulbul Singham Combo Hitting Soon
Rohit Shetty is one of those directors who are equally loved by his fans just as well as by those actors that he casts in his films. Rohit Shetty’s Simmba was in discussions for quite sometime. This film will feature Ranveer Singh in the titular role and this will be the first ever collaboration between Ranveer and Rohit. Plus, Karan Johar (Dharma Productions) has also collaborated for the first time with Rohit Shetty for Simmba. Simmba also stars Sara Ali Khan, however, Simmba was supposed to be Sara’s debut film but but now, as after the rescheduling of the dates Kedarnath will release first on 7th of December, 2018 and Simmba will become her second release i.e. 28th December, 2018.
The trailer of Simmba is just like any other Rohit Shetty flick, it offers nothing different in terms of execution and its main character ‘Simmba‘ looks hugely inspired from Chulbul Pandey (Babangg) and Bajirao Singham (Singham). Besides the fact, Simmba is the official remake of Sount Indian movie Temper with a few twists and turns in the plot. One can observe a few other inspirations taken from different films, which at least I can, but I’ll wait till the film releases and then will share the in-depth analysis (if need be). As far as the trailer of Simmba is concerned, it looks like an out and out masala entertainer, a no-brainer and a film where you just don’t need to think about the logic (similar was the case with Sunday, Bol Bachchan, Chennai Express, Dilwale and many others).
Albeit, this time Rohit and his team draws stark similarities from Dabangg and his own film’s character Singham, one of which is already mentioned in the trailer of Simmba. Bhalero aka Simmba reminds you of Chulbul Pandey big-time and slightly of Singham because Bhalerao is shown as a corrupt police inspector by saying the following lines:
‘Yeh Kalyug hai, yahaan log sirf ek hi matlab ke liay jeetay hain; Apne Matlab Ke Liay’
i.e. ‘This is Iron-Age, here people live for only one reason; Their Own Benefit’
who will not cross the path with the baddies until its his loved/closed ones who get affected. Which is clearly shown in the film that one of the girls whom Bhalero considers as his younger sister gets raped by Bhaauu’s (Sonu Sood) brothers, whom Bhalero serves in the uniform of the police.
What happens next will make Simmba a movie to watch out for. It’s evident from the trailer the Ajay Devgan (Singham) will be doing a cameo or extended cameo in Simmba as the two scenes are very clearly showing his presence in the film, the beginning shot of the trailer and the end where Bhaauu, with his team, is torturing Simmba and enters Singham with his Lion-like entry!
We wish all the best to the entire team of Simmba and hope that this film will be different from what we’ve seen more than a dozen times; from Shahanshah to Rajkumar (enveloping the obvious ones mentioned already in the beginning).
