A. Nayyar – The Magical Voice Is Still Very Much Alive
Arthur Nayyr (aka A. Nayyar), the legendary singer of Pakistani film industry, passed away on 11th November 2016. A. Nayyar was one of the most prominent and famous singers of 70’s and 80’s, he also lend his voice to Samina Peerzada’s most talked about directorial debut film Inteha (1999) which was also the launchpad of Humayun Saeed.
A. Nayyer sang many melodious songs and became the singing sensation. He sang for every leading hero of Pakistani cinema back in the days. His song on Mohammad Ali “Main Toh Jala Aisa Jeewan Bhar” is still considered as the finest song in the Pakistani film industry. The texture of Nayyar’s voice was so dense that it took the song to another level.
Waheed Murad, the chocolaty hero of Pakistani cinema, is still remembered with the song “Ek Baat Kahoon Dildaara” from the movie Khuda Aur Muhabbat was also sung by Nayyar. The song had peculiar music and Nayyar’s voice gave it a new meaning.
For Ayaz Naik he sang “Kal Achanak Raastay Mein” from the movie Ek Duje Ke Liye. The song brings out the live side of Nayyar’s voice with gusto. It is one of the finest songs in that genre.
Faisal’s “Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein” was a film he is still remembered for. For the same movie A. Nayyar sang “Meri Palkon Mein Ik sapna Thha”; one of the best romantic songs of Faisal’s career.
Shahid was one of the leading heroes of Pakistani cinema and when A. Nayyar sang for him the result was an instant hit. From the movie “Naya Andaz”, the song “Zid Na Kar” was a classic number.
A. Nayyar also sang some other classical tracks, where he was praised and appreciated by his listeners. His voice had a quality which was unique as he was amazing in singing slow tracks as well as fast paced filmy songs. He also sang ghazals and impressed his listeners. “Jee Rahay Hain Hum Tanha” was one of his beautiful tracks, and it is also said that it was his first solo track. Very few singers can do justice with that song.
There’s a song which A. Nayyar sang for the great Sultan Rahi. Saathi Mujhe Mil Gaya was the song on which we see Sultan Rahi breaking the leg, in a totally different avatar. This song is one of its kind.
The first song, for the film, of A. Nayyar was from Bahisht titled “Younhee Din Katt Jaaye”; it was the start of a promising career of a legendary singer.
“Chaand Taare Ghata” was a track which still holds its beauty. The song was filmed on Asif Razamir and Babra Sharif. From the film Saathi, this song is still popular in the fans of A. Nayyar.
The late singer also sang for Humayun Saeed and the song was instant hit. “Rut Mastani” was from Inteha.
The maestro of versatile singing A. Nayyar will be hugely missed. He gave innumerable hit and quality songs to the fans of music. May his soul rest in peace.
