Mubarakan Trailer Review – Very Anees Bazmee’ish

Anees Bazmee is known for family entertainers with lots and lots of brainless jokes stuffed in his films. Remember films like Shola Aur Shabnam, Deewana Mastana, Mujhse Shaadi Karogee, Welcome (series) and Singh Is Kinng? They all had one thing in common i.e. “Clean Entertainment”. Bazmee is known for witty yet clean entertainer films. Anees Bazmee is back with his latest venture Mubarakan, trailer of which is released recently. Mubarakan features Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz, Athiya Shetty, Neha Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Rahul Dev and Pawan Malhotra. The cast is quite effective and heavy.

Here is the trailer of Mubarakan:

Mubarakan looks out an out brainless entertainer with comedy, emotions and dramatic confusions cooking up in every scene almost. Anil Kapoor’s accent reminds of his No-Entry’s style. Arjun Kapoor looks as if he fails to bring out the peculiarity that was needed for 2 characters. Ileana looks ravishing and Athiya is passable.

The music department looks a little half-hearted to compose original tunes for the film as the background score strongly reminds of R.D. Burman’s iconic track “Yamma Yamma’’ from Shaan i.e. first 30 seconds of the trailer. Then there is reprised and modified version of umpteenth time used song from Hassan Jehangir’s iconic track “Hawa Hawa” (sung by Mika Singh here) that covers the 20+ seconds of the trailer. So out of 2.5 minutes’ trailer the background score is inspired from 2 different songs and covers 1 minute roughly. Music could have been better (read original) though.
