Bajirao Mastani – Visually Spellbinding
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of the fewest filmmakers who has the perfect talent to create larger than life (read: mega) celluloid experience for his viewers. The kind of cinematic command he displayed in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas are surpassed by Bajirao Mastani – there I said it. Ranveer Singh is one of those actors who is eager to try different subjects and roles, based on his previous releases comes again in front of the audience with a bang. Deepika Padukone is a natural talent and box office queen, she is the equivalent to the 3 reigning Khans of Bollywood in terms of producing revenues. Priyanka Chopra (Alex Parrish, these days) is one of the bankable actresses of B-town, she had proved to be a finest performer of her time many times. Bajirao Mastani is an ornament with selective jewels fixed in it.
Bajirao Mastani is a period tale of romance, patriotism and relationships. Bajirao (Ranveer Singh) is a Maratha and selected as the Peshwa, he is married to Kashi Bai (Priyanka Chopra). Soon after becoming the Peshwa, Bajirao is approached by Mastani (Deepika Padukone) to save her kingdom. After saving Mastani’s kingdom, love blossoms between the two and what happens next is a visual treat for audience and performance lovers.
Ranveer Singh as Bajirao is impeccable. His diction, tone and confidence make him stand out from the younger lot of actors. Ranveer must have done extra research in carrying out character of Maratha Bajirao. Priyanka is natural, she showcases, love, jealousy, care and courage with a dash of innocence in Kashibai’s character. She’ll definitely sweep you away with her performance. Deepika as Mastani is amazing. One cannot imagine any other actress performing this role. In one word Deepika is grandeur.
Aditya Panscholi is effective. Milind Soman is first-rate and Mahesh Manjrekar is strictly okay. Tanvi Azmi is brilliant. Music of Bajirao Mastani is hummable. Direction and cinematography wise Bajirao Mastani is a classic and it will be remembered by classes for sure. Sanjay Leela Bhansali deserves to walk away with multiple awards with his latest venture.
If you are looking for a high performance oriented, grand cinematic experience with elements like love, conspiracy, courage and patriotism sprinkled all over it then Bajirao Mastani should be your pick of the lot, without a second thought.
